Isabel Chaves

Dr. Chaves is a Cape Cod native and proud graduate of Dennis–Yarmouth Regional High School. After completing her Bachelor’s degree in Pre-Veterinary Medicine at UMass Amherst and earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Tufts University, she’s delighted to have returned home—this time as part of your pet’s care team. She joined the Veterinary Associates of Cape Cod team in July of 2025.

She brings a strong passion for veterinary medicine and a deep appreciation for the human–animal bond. While at Tufts, she also worked with the university’s wildlife clinic, igniting a lasting interest in exotic and wildlife medicine that continues to inspire her work today.

Outside the hospital, Dr. Chaves enjoys life with her husband, Zach; their two dogs, Rue and Tatum; and their cats, Gemini and Phoenix. When she’s not caring for patients, she can often be found exploring Cape Cod’s shoreline with her pups or curled up with a good book.
